Our first Buddy Walk

Since coming to Delaware we have met some really amazing people. One of my personal favorites is Jen and her family. She has a son, Collin, who has Down Syndrome. We participated in a walk to help raise money and awareness for the Down Syndrome Association. We were the Collinators of the Collibean (Pirates of the Caribbean) and the kids got to wear pirate t-shirts, sashes, swords and hats. They made this awesome ship for Collin to ride in and most of the kids pushed the entire way. Miss Megan was just so cute in her pirate hat. She loved her new t-shirt so much she wore it to bed and wanted to wear it again today! My dad came to visit, last minute, and walked with us. I was glad to have him there. This is Collin, capitan of the ship. He is such a sweet boy. He loves to throw the ball with Jerry and I when we are at flag football practice. Jerry has a sweet spot for Collin, I have never seen him so patient and tender with another child- that is not his own. I am really glad that Jen invited us to share in this important event and we look forward to doing it again next year- and will pray harder for it not to rain.
